Senior Software Engineer - Computational Platform (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States or Watertown, Massachusetts

Base salary: $154,084.36–$200,309.67 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain the scientific data platform and its cloud infrastructure.
• Develop APIs, data pipelines, and user-facing tools for scientists and external partners.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, security, data access, and lifecycle integrity.
• Translate scientific and clinical questions into production-ready software systems.
• Review code and architecture while helping improve engineering quality across the team.
• Move prototypes into production while balancing delivery speed with reliability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry software engineering experience.
• Strong software development practices covering deployment, code management, environment management, and security.
• Hands-on experience with GCP and/or AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes or Docker, cloud networking, and security.
• Experience with data engineering, relational databases, and data modeling.
• Expertise in Python or a similar programming language, plus React and JavaScript experience.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a high-expectation environment.

Nice to have

• Biotech or life sciences experience.
• Experience with LLMs, agent-based systems, or modern AI workflows.
• Familiarity with ETL system design and SQL query optimization.
