Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: South Burlington, Vermont, United States; on-site work at BETA facilities is required as needed

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Embed with business teams to identify, scope, and solve operational and technical problems.
• Design, develop, and deploy full-stack web applications, internal tools, and APIs.
• Use AI and LLM technologies to accelerate development and build intelligent workflows.
• Translate ambiguous requirements from non-technical stakeholders into technical designs and working solutions.
• Assess feasibility, communicate tradeoffs, and support intake and prioritization of new demand.
• Maintain technical documentation and promote long-term adoption and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Modern full-stack development experience with React/TypeScript and Python or Node.
• Experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
• Experience with REST APIs, SQL and/or NoSQL databases, AWS or other cloud platforms, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with non-technical stakeholders while managing changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Startup or fast-paced, resource-constrained environment experience.
• Experience building internal tools and enterprise applications.
• Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or another regulated industry.
• Experience integrating ERP, HRIS, PLM, or QMS systems.
