Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: New York Office; hybrid work

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate full-stack internal web applications using Python APIs and React/TypeScript interfaces.
• Develop AI- and LLM-powered features including classification, extraction, summarization, copilots, and agentic workflows.
• Deploy and operate applications on GCP using App Engine, Cloud Run, GKE, IAM, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and secure application practices.
• Connect applications to the enterprise data platform and BigQuery while designing efficient data access layers.
• Define the application portfolio, reusable building blocks, and criteria for choosing custom applications over BI dashboards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, analytics engineers, and data engineers to scope tools and work within platform constraints.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production software engineering experience, including substantial full-stack web application development.
• Strong Python experience with FastAPI, Flask, APIs, data access patterns, packaging, and testing.
• Experience with TypeScript, React or a comparable frontend framework, component design, and interactive data interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with GCP application services, including App Engine, Cloud Run, GKE, and IAM.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with cloud data warehouses, particularly BigQuery.
• Production experience developing and deploying AI/LLM-powered applications, including prompt design, structured outputs, evaluation, and cost/latency trade-offs.

Nice to have

• Experience with text-to-SQL interfaces, copilots, agentic workflows, or automated insight-generation systems.
• Experience with LLM provider APIs, agent frameworks, managed AI/ML platforms, model serving, embeddings, or evaluation tooling.
• Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, Terraform, and modern data warehouse patterns.
• Experience designing data-heavy UIs with tables, drill-downs, large result sets, and interactive exploration.
• Experience as the first or only application engineer on a data team.
