What you will do

• Design and develop test systems, automation frameworks, electromechanical fixtures, and instrumentation.
• Build modular components for CI and firmware testing infrastructure in collaboration with firmware engineers.
• Own projects end to end, from requirements capture and system architecture through fabrication, software integration, validation, and handoff.
• Work cross-functionally with Firmware, Product Design, Chemistry, and Regulatory teams to deliver reliable tooling.
• Identify risks and system gaps, propose solutions, and create clear technical documentation.
• Use AI coding assistants and LLMs for code generation, debugging, documentation, data analysis, and design iteration.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechatronics, hardware/electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout and review, microcontrollers, sensors, and analog/digital instrumentation.
• Proficiency in Python or an equivalent language for test automation, data acquisition, and analysis scripting.
• Familiarity with Rust or another systems-level programming language.
• Experience designing and building automated test fixtures or custom electromechanical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field; equivalent cross-disciplinary experience may be considered.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer electronics, vapor or aerosol science instrumentation, or factory test environments.
• CAD proficiency, especially SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape.
• Familiarity with LabVIEW, NI DAQ, or similar instrumentation frameworks.
• Experience with IoT architectures, embedded Linux, precision mechanics, vacuum systems, or optical and analytical instrumentation.
