Senior Test Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: $125,000–$171,600 per year, plus benefits

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of electrical schematics, PCBAs, interface boards, and manufacturing test fixtures.
• Own hardware bring-up, component selection, schematic and layout reviews, soldering, rework, and board-level debugging.
• Architect scalable test systems using power distribution, relays, multiplexers, signal conditioning, DAQ systems, and measurement instrumentation.
• Develop Python-based automated test software for instrument control, test execution, data logging, and production diagnostics.
• Lead manufacturing deployment and production support across internal sites and contract manufacturers, including troubleshooting, yield improvement, and failure analysis.
• Define test strategies and validation plans, analyze test and field data, coordinate technical projects, and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of hands-on experience in electrical hardware design, manufacturing test engineering, or system validation, plus a BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience with schematic capture, PCBA design, Altium or equivalent tools, board bring-up, soldering, rework, and component-level debugging.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, signal integrity, grounding, EMI/noise, and protection circuits.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, DAQ systems, and related instrumentation.
• Experience building manufacturing test fixtures, automating tests with Python or similar scripting languages, and debugging CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet protocols.
• Experience supporting manufacturing environments and contract manufacturers, leading technical projects, analyzing failures, and mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, automation systems, or high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with SCPI-based instrument control and automated validation frameworks.
• Experience with production diagnostics, reliability testing, root cause analysis, manufacturing processes, fixture ergonomics, and design-for-test principles.
