Laboratory Automation Engineer

Location: In-person at hirify.global HQ in Dallas, Texas, United States; flexible schedule with some early, late, and weekend work based on scientific team needs and equipment troubleshooting.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain automation methods using Hamilton Venus/Revolution and HighRes Cellario schedulers.
• Provide hands-on operational support, consumable management, troubleshooting, and maintenance for automated laboratory instruments and integrated systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, software, and system-integration issues to minimize equipment downtime.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment upgrades, modifications, installation, testing, and validation.
• Coordinate issue triage with end users, vendors, and external service providers while maintaining equipment records and validation documentation.
• Train end users and contribute to laboratory process improvements and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a scientific discipline, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with automated laboratory instruments and integrated automation systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and developing custom scripts for Hamilton STAR/VANTAGE, SPT Labtech firefly+, and other liquid-handling instruments.
• Experience troubleshooting and writing protocols for Hamilton Venus and HighRes Bio Cellario schedulers.
• Proficiency in one or more of HSL, VBScript, JavaScript, Python, C++, or R.
• Strong analytical, collaboration, documentation, communication, prioritization, and pressure-management skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of cell line development, FACS, NGS, cell line maintenance and expansion, stem cell differentiation, genotyping, or high-throughput screening.
• Experience with Agilent VWorks, Beckman Coulter Tempo/Echo, or Formulatrix Cellmatic/Stack schedulers.
