TL;DR

What you will do

  • Assemble and calibrate custom electromechanical equipment, automated systems, test stands, fixtures, and experimental workcells.
  • Perform wiring, cable routing, component mounting, control-panel assembly, and subsystem integration.
  • Bring up and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, fluid, thermal, optical, and controls systems.
  • Maintain, repair, upgrade, and align complex laboratory equipment.
  • Provide practical feedback on fit, serviceability, assembly sequence, and design issues.
  • Document builds, repairs, troubleshooting procedures, component history, and testing activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in electromechanical technology, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent military, vocational, or hands-on technical training.
  • Strong mechanical assembly and electrical diagnostic skills using hand tools, calipers, gauges, multimeters, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and work from 3D CAD models, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience assembling and troubleshooting electrical, cable, pneumatic, fluid, or thermal systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, motor controllers, actuators, sensors, and industrial automation components.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, electrical safety, laboratory safety, and shop safety standards, with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with interdisciplinary R&D, automation, manufacturing, robotics, laboratory automation, or regulated R&D environments.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools, especially SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or electrical schematic drafting tools.
  • Experience wiring PLCs, assembling control panels, or working at the component level in automation systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS, ERP, Kanban, or wiki-based maintenance and documentation tools.
