TL;DR
Analog Transceiver Design Engineer (Optical Compute Interconnect): Designing, simulating, and validating high-speed analog transmitter and receiver circuits for next-generation optical compute interconnect products with an accent on power-efficient analog front ends and integrated photonic interfaces. Focus on optimizing transmit drivers, TIAs, limiting amplifiers, and CTLEs through PVT, Monte Carlo, post-layout, and silicon-validation work.

Location: On-site in Aachen, Germany

What you will do

  • Design and simulate high-speed analog building blocks, including transmit drivers, TIAs, limiting amplifiers, CTLEs, bias circuits, and other transmitter and receiver functions.
  • Run AC, transient, noise, jitter, linearity, PVT, Monte Carlo, and post-layout simulations to optimize circuit performance.
  • Co-design electrical interfaces with photonics and packaging engineers while accounting for device and interconnect parasitics.
  • Support silicon bring-up, laboratory characterization, debugging, and correlation between simulations and measured silicon.
  • Work with system architects and senior designers to implement analog IP for OCI Generation 1 and Generation 2 performance targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4–5 years of industry experience in analog IC design, or equivalent demonstrated impact.
  • Strong knowledge of CMOS analog circuit design, including gain, bandwidth, noise, linearity, feedback, stability, signal integrity, parasitics, and circuit optimization.
  • Experience designing high-speed analog blocks such as transmit drivers, TIAs, CTLEs, limiting amplifiers, or SerDes front ends.
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, MATLAB and/or Python, RF and high-frequency tools such as Keysight ADS or Ansys HFSS, post-layout verification tools, oscilloscopes, VNAs, and BER testers.
  • Ability to collaborate across analog, photonics, packaging, layout, and system teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-speed optical transceivers, integrated photonic systems, or advanced SerDes designs.
  • Experience supporting silicon bring-up, laboratory characterization, and debugging of prototype or production silicon.
