Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) (SaaS): Designing and evolving secure, scalable Ruby on Rails applications, RESTful APIs, and cloud-based services with an accent on backend architecture, performance, maintainability, and reliable delivery. Focus on modernizing Rails platforms, separating distributed components, solving service scalability challenges, and applying AI-assisted engineering tools with human validation.
Location: Budapest, Hungary. Hybrid work model with onsite work required at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a office.

What you will do
- Design, build, test, review, and maintain Ruby on Rails features and services.
- Own technical delivery from solution design and implementation planning through production release.
- Develop and evolve RESTful APIs and web applications with emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, prototypes, and the separation of major components and subsystems.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Security, and engineering teams to deliver reliable software.
- Mentor engineers, improve engineering standards, and use AI-assisted tools responsibly for coding, debugging, and prototyping.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in a commercial software environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and production-grade backend or full-stack applications.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and web applications.
- Knowledge of secure software development, DevOps, infrastructure as code, and automated delivery practices.
- Understanding of microservices or service-oriented architectures, distributed-system trade-offs, SQL, data modeling, and application performance.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, source control, and technical delivery skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS, cloud deployment patterns, message queues, asynchronous processing, or event-driven integrations.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, observability, and operational ownership of production services.
- Experience modernizing legacy Rails applications or evolving software platforms.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
