Sr. Automotive Painter

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; daily onsite attendance required. Occasional travel for company events may be required.

Salary: $26.00–$34.00 per hour, plus an additional $0.75 per hour after six months. Eligible for overtime and an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning.
• Mix paints and achieve accurate color matches using paint formulas, scales, computerized color-mixing systems, and spectrophotometers.
• Operate spray guns to apply base coats, clear coats, and two-tone finishes.
• Manage drying and curing processes, including heat lamps and baking booths.
• Buff and polish painted surfaces and repair dents, scratches, and other body defects.
• Work on the production line and in paint rework areas while meeting target quality standards.

Requirements

• 4+ years of vehicle-painting experience in an automotive collision-repair or OEM production environment.
• Proficiency in surface preparation, spray-gun operation, paint application, drying and curing processes, adhesion characteristics, and paint-layering systems.
• Experience with color management software, paint scales, and computerized color mixing.
• Experience buffing and polishing, plus the ability to perform minor scratch and dent repairs.
• Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, material-waste reduction, clear communication, and professional accountability.
• Willingness to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and required overtime, and to train others.

Nice to have

• Vocational School Certificate in Paint Repair or Collision Repair.
• I-CAR Refinish Technician Certification.
