Staff Accountant (AI)

What you will do

• Process vendor invoices in Bill.com, code transactions to the correct budget and general ledger accounts, and manage 1099 vendor records, W-9 collection, classification, and year-end filing support.
• Track receipts, code transactions, and reconcile monthly credit card statements using Bill.com and QuickBooks Online.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations across all company accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage month-end close for assets and liabilities and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance to identify anomalies and maintain clean, current, audit-ready books.
• Support ad hoc finance projects, including fundraising data room preparation, process improvements, and systems migration.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup or small business, including full-cycle month-end close.
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Bill.com.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and closing asset and liability accounts.
• Solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with the VP of Finance.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing books for fundraising due diligence or external audit.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
