Patient Access Specialist

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Perform admitting and pre-registration duties for hospital patients.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, process physician orders, collect demographic and insurance information, and provide patient instructions.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, support point-of-service collections, and contribute to clean claim billing processes.
• Explain and distribute consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient education forms; obtain required signatures and witness information.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software and document applicable forms and notifications.
• Operate the telephone switchboard, conduct account audits, correct records, and provide reporting data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Must be able to work onsite at Ballad in Bristol, Tennessee.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
• Ability to follow healthcare policies, processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
