Senior Software Engineer (NodeJS, React)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid work with onsite attendance at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Design, code, review, and test new features for a flagship SaaS product.
• Refactor and modernize legacy software components.
• Contribute to large-scale product architecture using microservices, REST APIs, SQL, and cloud-native AWS patterns.
• Run experiments and build proofs of concept to validate and refine technical solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers and other teams to define requirements and deliver optimized solutions.
• Take ownership of deliverables and assist with mentoring team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on development experience at a commercial software company.
• Strong experience with SQL and relational database management systems.
• Experience with microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience with cloud tools and cloud-native development, preferably AWS.
• Problem-solving mindset, technology-agnostic approach, proactive ownership, and effective workload management.
• Willingness to improve processes and share knowledge across the team.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL stored procedures.
• Backend and frontend development experience, including NodeJS.
• CI/CD, containers, cloud deployments, and GitHub Actions experience.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture.
• Experience with data visualization or reporting tools such as Looker or QuickSight.
