AI Platform Engineer

Location: Hybrid role requiring 3 days in the office in Rockville/Gaithersburg, Maryland, Tuesday through Thursday. Standard hours are 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday. Travel expectations are up to 5%.

Salary: $184,000–$215,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, version, and optimize Docker-based containerized applications for production.
• Develop and administer GitLab CI/CD pipelines, runners, automated testing workflows, monitoring dashboards, and deployment automation.
• Architect and manage AWS infrastructure with Terraform, including ECS, ECR, VPC, EC2, ALB/NLB, and related services.
• Administer AWS data services including DocumentDB, OpenSearch, Redis, Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, observability, security, certificate management, release versioning, and rollback procedures.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application performance, troubleshoot production issues, support AI-native architecture, and participate in on-call incident response.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on Docker experience with production applications.
• Proven experience with GitLab CI/CD administration, AWS services, Terraform, release engineering, and deployment automation.
• Experience managing AWS data services such as DocumentDB, OpenSearch, Redis, Aurora Postgres, or DynamoDB.
• Proficiency with Linux and/or macOS command-line environments, plus strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts and LLM architectures, with proficiency in Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools.
