TL;DR
Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare Revenue Cycle): Performing hospital patient admissions, registration, insurance verification, medical necessity screening, consent processing, and point-of-service collections with an accent on accurate patient data and regulatory compliance. Focus on verifying coverage, supporting clean claims, explaining required forms, and delivering compassionate in-person service while moving throughout the hospital.

Location: Onsite at Firelands - Sandusky Health Center in Sandusky, Ohio, United States. Full-time schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., including weekend and holiday rotation.

Pay: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience, with shift differential available for select shifts.

What you will do

  • Perform admitting and pre-registration duties for hospital patients, including assigning accurate medical record numbers.
  • Collect and verify demographic, insurance, physician order, and financial information.
  • Review insurance eligibility and benefits, select plan codes, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
  • Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required Medicare, Tricare, observation, consent, and patient education forms.
  • Explain consent and patient education documents, obtain signatures, and provide compassionate customer service.
  • Conduct account audits, maintain accurate records, process calls, and provide reporting data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to walk from room to room and push a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the entire shift.
  • Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient and client experiences.
  • CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification costs are covered by the company.
