AI Data Operations Lead (Robotics)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; 5 days/week in-office collaboration required

Salary: $145,000–$205,000 USD annually plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Own the operational execution of AI learning programs and translate research priorities into scalable execution plans.
• Coordinate cross-functional work across AI, hardware, robotics software, and operations.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a 20–50 person team covering data collection, annotation, and teleoperation.
• Define and report KPIs such as data collection throughput, robot uptime, and evaluation turnaround.
• Manage robot fleet health, preventive and corrective maintenance, readiness, and operational efficiency.
• Lead end-to-end data collection and annotation programs, including workflows, SOPs, training, scheduling, quality assurance, evaluation resources, and vendor management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above; technical degrees are preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in technical operations, program management, or cross-functional operations leadership, ideally in hardware, robotics, or R&D.
• Experience managing people, operators, or vendor teams, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Ability to translate technical priorities into operational workflows, SOPs, and execution plans without writing code or designing systems.
• Working knowledge of data pipelines, model training, and robot operations for effective collaboration with AI researchers and engineers.
• Must work in the office 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Physical AI, robot learning, imitation learning, or VLA development.
• Experience with teleoperation, human demonstration pipelines, robotics data collection, or large-scale annotation operations.
• Familiarity with robot benchmarking, evaluation workflows, operational dashboards, or workflow automation.
