Field Engineer Fire Equipment (NDT)

Location: Remote, but candidate must be located in the Central NJ/South Plainfield, NJ area; up to 50% overnight travel required

What you will do

• Perform NFPA certification testing and field evaluations of fire apparatus, aerial devices, pumpers, and ground ladders.
• Conduct non-destructive testing using magnetic particle, visual, ultrasonic, and liquid penetrant methods.
• Analyze examination and test results against UL requirements and applicable standards.
• Evaluate noncompliance variations, determine the acceptability of alternative solutions, and facilitate corrective actions.
• Inspect manufacturing, production, quality, calibration, and inspection records for compliance.
• Document test results, maintain inspection logs, and communicate technical findings with customers, manufacturers, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Requirements

• AAS degree in Non-Destructive Testing is required.
• Current ASNT Level II or higher certification is required.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to perform engineering calculations.
• Strong communication and client-interfacing skills.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas and lift or move up to 70 lbs.
• Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, IBM Laptop Computer, and Lotus Notes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with large emergency vehicles or commercial vehicles with hydraulic equipment.
• Certification to CP 189 or SNT-TC-1A, including VT, MT, or UT.
