Senior Plumbing/Fire Suppression Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days in the office; Philadelphia, PA preferred, with locations also available in New York City and Monroe, NJ.

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design plumbing systems, including medical, laboratory, and gas piping.
• Design performance-based fire protection systems and develop system calculations.
• Select building equipment and prepare detailed engineering documents.
• Write and edit project specifications and conduct plumbing code and NFPA compliance research.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines and perform site surveys to document existing conditions.
• Provide construction administration services and oversee and instruct junior staff.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of design experience.
• Experience designing fire suppression systems.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with plumbing codes, NFPA standards, and healthcare design guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, planning, and time-management skills.
• Professional Engineer license required; a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

• CPD plumbing design accreditation.
• ASSE 6060 medical gas design accreditation.
• Experience with healthcare and life sciences projects.
