Location: Remote within the United States; based in Boston, MA, with up to 25% domestic travel

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

  • Manage and develop a distributed team of Applications Engineers across the assigned territory.
  • Own capacity planning, workload distribution, performance conversations, and professional development.
  • Lead applications engineering from pre-sales proof-of-concept support through post-installation customer success.
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex integrations, difficult customer situations, and challenging installations.
  • Design solutions, review integrations, commission robotic cells, support installations, and sign off on solution designs and integration plans.
  • Define documentation, handoff, commissioning, customer training, and deployment standards while feeding field learnings into product and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on applications engineering, systems integration, or automation engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of people management or team lead experience.
  • Fluency across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, including PLC programming, ladder logic, pneumatics, DC power systems, robot programming, Python scripting, and CAD.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and senior-level technical escalation skills.
  • Experience managing a distributed team or territory and willingness to travel domestically up to 25%.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with collaborative robots such as UR, Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, or similar platforms.
  • Experience scaling an applications or field engineering function.
  • Experience with vision systems, force/torque sensing, or custom end-of-arm tooling.
  • Familiarity with machine tending, palletizing, welding, or assembly automation.
