Director, Business Development - Search & Evaluation (AI Pharma)

Location: Hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in office. Hiring is prioritized in the Boston and New York City metro areas; applicants in the Research Triangle, NC, and San Francisco Bay Area may also be considered. Candidates must reside in these locations or be willing to relocate.

Total compensation: $235,000–$307,000, plus equity, comprehensive benefits, and perks.

What you will do

• Lead deal-by-deal opportunity and asset teams from identification through transaction closing.
• Work with the business development team to define outreach targets aligned with company strategy.
• Own designated outreach areas across big pharma, biotech companies, or therapeutic areas.
• Build a consistent, high-quality pipeline of early-stage asset opportunities.
• Conduct initial opportunity triage and assess strategic fit before broader diligence.
• Coordinate with R&D, technology platform, and commercial teams throughout the diligence and transition process.

Requirements

• PhD in biological science or MD with laboratory research experience strongly preferred.
• 3–7 years of post-degree experience combining scientific and business expertise.
• Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical business development, search and evaluation, venture capital investing, or life sciences consulting is highly preferred.
• Strong relationships across the biotech and pharmaceutical industries and the ability to source early-stage assets.
• Interest in networking, relationship building, and externally facing business development activities.
• Curiosity about the role of AI in drug development, clinical trials, and business development.
