Commissioning Engineer (Nuclear): Developing commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and testing products for the Natrium Demonstration Plant with an accent on nuclear island commissioning, integrated plant operations, and safety-related systems. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, evaluating control and transient event responses, supporting nuclear licensing, and ensuring testing meets design criteria.

Location: Kemmerer, Wyoming, United States; onsite role. Travel required: 0–10%. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $116,495–$174,743 per year.

What you will do

  • Coordinate geographically diverse design and commissioning teams across employees, subcontractors, partners, and customers.
  • Develop commissioning programs, procedures, administrative processes, and integrated nuclear plant commissioning schedules.
  • Support plant- and system-level requirements, specifications, commissioning strategies, and operations and maintenance documentation.
  • Lead evaluations of integrated control and transient event responses and recommend operational and design optimizations.
  • Support plant development, nuclear licensing activities, Safety Analysis Reports, and contractor oversight.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure commissioning tests meet design criteria and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of direct nuclear power plant experience, including experience with commercial nuclear reactor operations.
  • Senior Reactor Operator qualification or equivalent; Shift Technical Advisor qualification is preferred.
  • Experience developing or using commissioning processes and procedures, nuclear operations and maintenance procedures, and long-term schedules using P6 Primavera or a similar application.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear regulations, work control, maintenance strategies, operational design philosophies, configuration management, and integrated plant operations.
  • Experience with NQA-1 or ISO 9001 quality standards, technical writing, multidisciplinary projects, and resolving competing objectives and design constraints.

Nice to have

  • Responsibility for safety-related systems and components.
  • Experience with integrated nuclear plant design, complex systems and structures, and risk-informed or probabilistic design methods.
  • Shift Technical Advisor qualification.
