Senior Cloud Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Pleasanton, United States; candidates within a reasonable commute to an office must work onsite at least 3 days per week

Salary: $136,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud environments and build cloud-based Kubernetes clusters.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and operate SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and related database systems.
• Develop database backup and recovery strategies and manage database reliability.
• Manage the lifecycle, scalability, upgrades, and patches of DevOps tools including Jenkins, Artifactory, and Consul.
• Deploy and scale cloud-native open-source platforms such as Ubuntu Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Fluentd, Flannel, and Elasticsearch.
• Build monitoring sensors, troubleshoot production incidents, support customer architecture decisions, and act as technical lead for smaller projects while participating in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building or operating cloud-native applications with Kubernetes and Docker, including Docker in production.
• Proficiency with shell scripting, Linux or Windows SysOps, cloud platforms, and cloud-native tools.
• Experience operating production web applications and understanding HTTP(S), HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and XML.
• Intermediate knowledge of at least one relevant language or platform, such as C#, Visual Basic, PowerShell, Ruby, Go, Java, or ASP.NET.
• Experience with open-source platforms, software development methodologies, networking, computer science fundamentals, and distributed systems.
• Strong written and oral communication, ownership, ability to deliver work, and willingness to participate in on-call support.
