Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer (DevOps)

Salary: $209,600–$314,400 per year, with a midpoint of $262,000; the range is adjusted according to the employee’s geographic differential.

What you will do

• Own and extend AWS and GCP environments hosting Tier-0 services, maintaining resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
• Design and maintain networking between cloud services and hirify.global’s global fleet of printers, including VPCs, routing, DNS, load balancing, TLS, and secure edge connectivity.
• Operate Kubernetes clusters and the Istio service mesh, improving workload isolation, traffic management, mTLS, authorization, upgrades, and observability.
• Lead Terraform initiatives from module design through rollout and establish infrastructure-as-code standards.
• Improve Jenkins and GitHub Actions pipelines for faster builds, safer deployments, and clearer delivery workflows.
• Participate in platform on-call, incident response, postmortems, technical design, code reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure, with deep expertise in AWS or GCP and working proficiency in the other.
• Strong networking expertise covering VPCs, subnets, routing, DNS, load balancing, TLS, VPNs, and cloud-to-edge connectivity.
• Expert-level Terraform experience, including module design, large-scale state management, and non-trivial migrations.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, service meshes, CI/CD pipelines, Linux, containers, and at least one of Python, Go, or Bash.
• Experience with reliability engineering, incident response, observability, failure-mode analysis, and on-call infrastructure ownership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience connecting cloud services to physical devices or field-deployed edge hardware.
• Familiarity with Bazel or another polyglot monorepo build system.
• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other cloud security and compliance controls.
• Experience operating a platform team serving internal engineering customers.
