TL;DR
Build Engineer - Propulsion (Aerospace): Designing, manufacturing, integrating, and testing flight hardware and propulsion assemblies with an accent on detailed hardware design, tooling, production processes, and vehicle assembly. Focus on transitioning complex aerospace assemblies from prototype to production, developing test infrastructure, and delivering flight-ready hardware on aggressive timelines.

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; on-site. Requires travel to test sites, other offices, and partner locations up to 25% and availability for extended hours or weekends during critical milestones.

What you will do

  • Plan projects and drive hardware delivery on aggressive timelines.
  • Turn high-level engineering concepts into detailed designs with final geometry, material selection, and design for manufacturing.
  • Transition complex aerospace assemblies from prototype to production.
  • Design and implement build processes covering factory layout, tooling, testing, and vehicle integration.
  • Develop and run test procedures for flight hardware.
  • Collaborate across production, test, and design teams to simplify processes and eliminate waste.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
  • At least one year of hands-on physical hardware experience; internships, laboratories, and project teams count.
  • Strong engineering first-principles thinking and the ability to design, build, break, and iterate quickly.
  • Comfort with CAD, test equipment, and hand tools.
  • Familiarity with machining, welding, forming, and other manufacturing processes, plus GD&T fundamentals.
  • Must comply with U.S. export control requirements as a U.S. person or otherwise be eligible for deemed-export licensing.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing and releasing flight hardware.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter and NX.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience on project teams.
  • Experience building hardware that has flown or failed in testing.
  • Experience establishing production lines or test infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.
