Salary: $168,316–$252,475 annually; the range is specific to Washington State.

What you will do

• Establish enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, classification practices, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
• Define conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling standards across the enterprise.
• Design and evolve the enterprise data lake into a scalable data lakehouse architecture and evaluate a unified Data Hub strategy.
• Lead data ingestion, transformation, storage, and integration architecture using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, and business teams to implement secure, compliant data architectures.
• Guide and mentor Data Engineers while serving as the data architecture lead across multiple concurrent projects and application integrations.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience designing and governing enterprise data lakes or large-scale data platforms.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics, including dedicated SQL pools and serverless.
• Strong experience with relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data modeling.
• Experience establishing data governance programs covering metadata, master data, quality, and lineage.
• Ability to collaborate with security and infrastructure teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Purview or a similar enterprise data catalog and governance platform.
• Familiarity with Delta Lake, Apache Spark, Azure Data Lake Storage, Fabric, Service Bus, Event Hubs, Logic Apps, and major database platforms.
• Exposure to application acquisition and data integration onboarding processes.
• Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA and relevant Azure certifications.
• Experience working in multi-project or program environments with competing priorities.
