AI Research Engineer (Robot Learning)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

What you will do

• Research and implement large-scale, multi-task foundation AI models for robotic manipulation.
• Iterate on model architectures and parameters, then specialize models through fine-tuning and post-training.
• Implement and manage the data flywheel from task specification and data collection through model training and real-world evaluation.
• Write clean, maintainable Python code using deep learning frameworks.
• Collaborate with Robotics and Hardware teams to deploy models efficiently and reliably on real-world robots.
• Co-lead AI engineering and research while working closely with the founders and early team.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent PhD-level industry experience.
• At least 3 years of experience training generative models.
• At least 4 years of experience developing and maintaining Python code.
• Strong empirical research abilities and technical intuition.
• Project management or supervision experience.
• Fluent English speaker.

Nice to have

• Published deep learning or robot learning research at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, CoRL, ICML, or ICLR.
• Experience training large-scale foundation models with distributed multi-GPU setups.
• Robotics and ROS2 experience.
• Experience with reinforcement learning fine-tuning of generative models.
• Open-source software development experience.
