What you will do
- Research and implement large-scale, multi-task foundation AI models for robotic manipulation.
- Iterate on model architectures and parameters, then specialize models through fine-tuning and post-training.
- Implement and manage the data flywheel from task specification and data collection through model training and real-world evaluation.
- Write clean, maintainable Python code using deep learning frameworks.
- Collaborate with Robotics and Hardware teams to deploy models efficiently and reliably on real-world robots.
- Co-lead AI engineering and research while working closely with the founders and early team.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent PhD-level industry experience.
- At least 3 years of experience training generative models.
- At least 4 years of experience developing and maintaining Python code.
- Strong empirical research abilities and technical intuition.
- Project management or supervision experience.
- Fluent English speaker.
Nice to have
- Published deep learning or robot learning research at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, CoRL, ICML, or ICLR.
- Experience training large-scale foundation models with distributed multi-GPU setups.
- Robotics and ROS2 experience.
- Experience with reinforcement learning fine-tuning of generative models.
- Open-source software development experience.
