Principal Modeling and Simulation Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Architect, design, and develop scalable, high-performance simulation software for robotic and automation solutions.
• Lead the development and integration of simulation environments using Emulate3D and Sim3D.
• Design simulation frameworks, APIs, and services integrated with production robotic software systems.
• Apply MBSE principles to define system behavior, interfaces, and performance characteristics.
• Develop testing, debugging, validation, and optimization infrastructure for robotic systems in simulation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, influence engineering strategy and roadmap, and communicate technical direction and tradeoffs to engineering and product stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience focused on modeling, simulation, or complex systems.
• Strong development expertise in Python and/or C++.
• Required proficiency with Emulate3D or Sim3D from Rockwell Automation.
• Experience architecting and delivering large-scale simulation and software systems, working autonomously from concept to production, and navigating large, complex codebases.
• Ability to define and communicate technical strategy, tradeoffs, and priorities, while applying an MVP mindset when scaling solutions from prototype to production.
• Proficiency in simulation software development, system modeling frameworks, NVIDIA Omniverse, system design, software architecture, asynchronous and concurrent programming, Git, Jira, Linux or Ubuntu, code reviews, testing methodologies, CI/CD, and modular, scalable, fault-tolerant design patterns.

Nice to have

• Experience in robotics, automation, or material handling systems.
• Experience with distributed systems, high-performance simulation environments, robotics simulation, digital twins, virtual commissioning, MBSE tools and methodologies, API and SDK development for simulation platforms, and RESTful and/or gRPC services.
• Experience with data analysis and performance profiling using Python, pandas, or logging frameworks; Docker and Kubernetes; NoSQL databases such as MongoDB; and hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop testing.
