Staff Risk Strategy Analyst (Fraud & Risk)

Location: US California (Redwood City) - Office

Salary: $137,255–$193,872 base pay per year, plus potential equity, performance-based incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and scale risk strategies and policies covering buyer fraud, seller abuse, account integrity, payment fraud, refund and return abuse, spam, and trust and safety.
• Analyze large-scale marketplace, transactional, and behavioral data to identify abuse patterns, quantify risk exposure, and define mitigation strategies.
• Design, deploy, and optimize risk decisioning strategies using internal and third-party risk, identity, fraud prevention, and orchestration platforms.
• Partner with Data Science and Machine Learning teams to operationalize and monitor predictive models in production risk workflows.
• Build experimentation frameworks, monitoring systems, KPIs, and governance processes to measure strategy effectiveness and respond to emerging threats.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Trust & Safety Operations, Payments, Customer Experience, and Analytics teams, while mentoring analysts and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 6+ years of experience in fraud, risk, trust and safety, or advanced analytics.
• Deep experience developing and optimizing fraud, abuse, or trust strategies in marketplace, e-commerce, fintech, payments, or platform ecosystems.
• Strong SQL proficiency and experience working with large-scale transactional and behavioral datasets; Python or R experience is preferred.
• Experience with risk decisioning, orchestration, identity, or fraud prevention platforms and with operationalizing predictive models.
• Understanding of account abuse, payment fraud, refund abuse, fake accounts, spam, listing abuse, social engineering, and platform manipulation.
• Strong experimentation, analytical problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and business judgment skills.
