Lead Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; onsite in the office 5 days a week

Base salary: $150,000–$300,000 USD annually, plus a potential discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Re-architect the platform on public clouds to support frequent, predictable, high-impact changes.
• Design and build infrastructure features using Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, Prometheus, and related technologies.
• Develop a modern services architecture that enables feature teams to use microservices and containerization.
• Review architecture, designs, and code for performance, maintainability, security, and quality.
• Coach junior engineers, coordinate dependencies across teams, and drive projects to impact.
• Lead responses to severe incidents, balance trade-offs, minimize customer impact, and communicate solutions clearly.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience designing, building, and architecting software in an enterprise software or SaaS/PaaS environment.
• At least 5 years of experience in the Kubernetes ecosystem.
• Expertise with AWS or another public cloud such as Azure or Google Cloud, plus Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
• Fluency in at least one programming language, including Python, Golang, or Java.
• Experience with DevOps, release engineering, CI/CD, cloud networking, and information security.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience; excellent communication skills are required.
