TL;DR
Sr. Harness Technician (Aerospace): Building, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting aerospace wire harnesses and cable assemblies for planetary rovers with an accent on IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 workmanship, MIL-SPEC components, and flight hardware. Focus on advanced crimping and soldering, resolving continuity and connector faults, supporting harness integration on vehicles and testbeds, and mentoring junior technicians.

Location: Onsite in Hawthorne, California, United States

Salary: $40.00–$50.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Fabricate, route, terminate, integrate, and test complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies for prototype and flight hardware.
  • Perform advanced crimping, soldering, splicing, potting, shielding, braiding, and overmolding.
  • Inspect harnesses and conduct functional, continuity, and electrical tests in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and connector mismatches across testbeds, vehicles, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on design feedback, manufacturing issues, and process improvements.
  • Create or review routing documentation and work instructions, and mentor junior technicians.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of wire harness or cable assembly experience in aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with MIL-SPEC components, aerospace wiring practices, crimping, soldering, wire termination, and continuity testing.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school or associate degree is preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne, California.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and stand, bend, and work with small components for extended periods.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of aerospace or spaceflight wire harness assembly experience.
  • Experience with automated crimping equipment, hipot testers, high-reliability termination, and prototype or low-volume production.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 certification or willingness to pursue recertification; J-STD-001 certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NASA-STD-8739.x, redlined drawings, engineering change orders, and controlled documentation.
