Location: Onsite in Hawthorne, California, United States
Salary: $40.00–$50.00 per hour
Company
designs, builds, and operates commercial planetary rovers to support exploration and operations on distant planetary bodies.
What you will do
- Fabricate, route, terminate, integrate, and test complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies for prototype and flight hardware.
- Perform advanced crimping, soldering, splicing, potting, shielding, braiding, and overmolding.
- Inspect harnesses and conduct functional, continuity, and electrical tests in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and connector mismatches across testbeds, vehicles, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on design feedback, manufacturing issues, and process improvements.
- Create or review routing documentation and work instructions, and mentor junior technicians.
Requirements
- 3+ years of wire harness or cable assembly experience in aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
- Experience with MIL-SPEC components, aerospace wiring practices, crimping, soldering, wire termination, and continuity testing.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school or associate degree is preferred.
- Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne, California.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and stand, bend, and work with small components for extended periods.
Nice to have
- 5+ years of aerospace or spaceflight wire harness assembly experience.
- Experience with automated crimping equipment, hipot testers, high-reliability termination, and prototype or low-volume production.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 certification or willingness to pursue recertification; J-STD-001 certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with NASA-STD-8739.x, redlined drawings, engineering change orders, and controlled documentation.
