Ground Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office

Salary: $150K–$185K annual base salary, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement ground software for satellite communication, control, and telemetry.
• Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations, maintaining ground-system functionality during critical operations.
• Own ground software solutions across the full lifecycle, from initial design through deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and technical roadmaps.
• Integrate third-party tools and custom software to automate satellite operations, tracking, and data processing.
• Improve scalability, redundancy, and failover strategies for ground software and systems.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
• 3+ years of ground software experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Strong proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Python, or Rust.
• Familiarity with microservices frameworks, Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC, and cloud-based solutions.
• Knowledge of Linux system administration, software integration, real-time and distributed systems testing, network protocols, secure communications, and encryption.
