Licensing Engineer II-VI, Risk-Informed Safety Analysis (Nuclear): Supporting reactor licensing applications and regulatory engagements with the U.S. NRC with an accent on nuclear safety, regulatory compliance, and risk-informed analysis. Focus on developing Safety Analysis Reports and technical reports, coordinating regulatory audits and responses to Requests for Additional Information, and aligning licensing milestones across engineering and project teams.

Location: Rockville, MD / Gaithersburg, MD; 4 days in office; standard hours 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday

Salary: $88,725–$147,875 for Level II; $103,575–$172,625 for Level III; $125,400–$209,000 for Level IV; $139,950–$233,250 for Level V; $153,750–$256,250 for Level VI.

What you will do

  • Support reactor certifications, permits, approvals, licenses, and licensing milestones involving the U.S. NRC.
  • Develop licensing content for Safety Analysis Reports, licensing applications, technical reports, white papers, and topical reports.
  • Coordinate regulatory audits, responses to Requests for Additional Information, and annual regulatory engagement planning.
  • Support technical requirements, licensing strategies, plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with licensing, engineering, program and project management, supply chain, procurement, and the U.S. NRC.
  • Integrate quality and safety culture into licensing processes in accordance with the hirify.global Quality Assurance Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field, such as mechanical or nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, or physics.
  • Relevant licensing experience: typically 2 years for Level II, 5 years for Level III, 10 years for Level IV, 15 years for Level V, or 20 years for Level VI.
  • Experience with direct written or verbal interactions with the NRC.
  • Understanding of nuclear regulatory processes in the United States.
  • Project management experience involving schedules, team coordination, and technical content for regulatory purposes.
  • Ability to work 4 days in the Gaithersburg, Maryland office during standard Eastern Time business hours.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear safety analyses and methods.
  • Experience implementing NEI 18-04/LMP.
  • Experience with Probabilistic Risk Assessments.
