Senior Electrochemist

Location: San Francisco, United States; 100% on-site. The electrochemical R&D team is based in Menlo Park.

What you will do

• Develop and test novel, high-impact electrolyzers.
• Demonstrate state-of-the-art performance metrics across multiple product streams.
• Design experimental campaigns that answer key research questions.
• Use electrochemical fundamentals and simple models to guide research direction.
• Translate scientific literature findings into relevant experiments and tests.
• Plan projects, anticipate blockers, troubleshoot instrumentation and electromechanical hardware, and deliver objectives on time.

Requirements

• PhD in electrochemistry or equivalent industry experience.
• Expertise in electrochemical testing, including EIS, Tafel analysis, cyclic voltammetry, and related techniques.
• Hands-on understanding of electrochemical kinetics and transport.
• CAD experience designing electrolyzer hardware.
• Strong project management, hypothesis-driven problem-solving, and ability to work with international and diverse teams.
• Commitment to working fully on-site.

Nice to have

• Experience developing electrochemical kinetics or transport models.
• Experience with electrodialysis, salt splitters, or other acid/base-generating cells.

Hiring process

• Two 30-minute introductory calls with the team.
• 60-minute technical video call with a presentation, case study, and technical questions.
• Interviews with the co-founder and CTO, followed by an on-site interview, lab visit, team lunch, and reference calls.
