R&D Scientist (Materials Science)

Location: 100% onsite in Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States

What you will do

• Develop additives and formulations for electroplating products used in the electronics industry.
• Perform polymer synthesis and characterization at laboratory and pilot scales.
• Design and execute experiments involving electroplating, electrochemistry, chromatography, microscopy, NMR, and materials testing.
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results to technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Prepare samples, support scale-up and process development activities, and lead focused technical projects with minimal supervision.
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and contribute to safety initiatives.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant industry or research experience.
• Hands-on experience with wet chemistry and laboratory experimentation.
• Ability to develop and test technical hypotheses and operate standard chemical and analytical instrumentation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and independent working skills.
• Must work onsite at the Marlborough, Massachusetts facility; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Background in organic, inorganic, or materials chemistry.
• Experience with polymer synthesis and characterization.
• Knowledge of electroplating bath formulation, electrochemistry, or electrodeposition.
• Experience with NMR, chromatography, cyclic voltammetry, spectroscopy, or titration.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments, or experience in semiconductor, electronics, or advanced materials applications.
