Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)

What you will do

• Design accurate, scalable, production-ready molds and fixtures with complete manufacturing documentation.
• Create ply books and kits from customer data and projector programs.
• Provide customers with design-for-manufacturing feedback and cost-reduction ideas.
• Partner with software engineering to test, validate, and improve in-house manufacturing tools.
• Work on the production floor to identify bottlenecks and develop solutions that improve technician workflows.
• Plan equipment investments, train the team, expand manufacturing capabilities, and develop new manufacturing methods.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals and demonstrated experience delivering designs in manufacturing environments.
• Ability to independently design multi-piece molds and complex tooling while driving projects with minimal guidance.
• At least 2 years of experience with prepreg composites in a manufacturing environment.
• Deep knowledge of tooling splits, ply drops, adhesive films, debulking, intensifiers, caul plates, and core splicing.
• Experience with scanned data and geometric quality-control analysis, professional CAD such as NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA, and manufacturing drawings.
• Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of machining and 3D-printing design considerations.
• Experience with VARTM, compression molding, trapped rubber molding, or wet layup.
• Software or coding experience with C++, Python, MATLAB, VBA, Arduino, or similar tools.
