Senior Counsel (Insurance Defense)

Location: Fresno, California, United States; remote, hybrid, or in-office work options are available, with occasional in-person appearances for remote employees. An active California Bar license is required.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys may also receive an annual billable-hours bonus.

What you will do

• Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, discovery, and trials.
• Manage complex litigation matters involving general liability, construction defect, toxic tort, and class actions.
• Develop compelling case themes and strategic defense approaches.
• Communicate routinely with clients and cultivate client relationships.
• Collaborate with attorneys across experience levels and provide leadership to less experienced attorneys.

Requirements

• Active California Bar license required.
• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• 8+ years of litigation experience, including deposition and trial preparation.
• Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities across discovery and trial.
• Strong writing, listening, verbal communication, deposition, and advocacy skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and time-management systems.

Nice to have

• Insurance defense or civil litigation experience.
• Experience with general liability, construction defect, toxic tort, or other complex cases.
