TL;DR
Operator (Nuclear Energy): Assembling, commissioning, operating, and maintaining large-scale nuclear engineering test equipment with an accent on plant operations, equipment troubleshooting, and hazardous-material handling. Focus on executing commissioning procedures, monitoring process parameters, performing corrective actions, and supporting R&D testing across Albuquerque and Oak Ridge facilities.

Location: On-site in Albuquerque, NM for approximately 2 years, with a potential transition to on-site operations in Oak Ridge, TN. Occasional overtime, weekend work, second-shift work, schedule flexibility, and extended hours may be required.

What you will do

  • Assemble, install, commission, operate, and maintain mechanical and electrical plant equipment and large-scale testing hardware.
  • Prepare, review, and execute commissioning, operating, maintenance, acceptance-testing, and hazardous-operations procedures.
  • Support facility startup, monitoring, shutdown, chemistry sampling, equipment performance trending, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform minor preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment cleaning, consumable replacements, and Lockout-Tagout procedures.
  • Assist engineering staff with R&D testing and transfer operational knowledge between facilities.
  • Operate forklifts, telehandlers, overhead hoists, boom lifts, and other industrial equipment as required.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or equivalent experience, or at least 2 years as a plant operator or technician.
  • Ability to work on-site in Albuquerque, NM for approximately 2 years and potentially transition to Oak Ridge, TN.
  • Experience or familiarity with plant equipment, instrumentation and controls systems, hand tools, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to read P&IDs and mechanical/electrical drawings, troubleshoot equipment, use spreadsheets, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials while wearing required PPE, including a full-face respirator and Tyvek or other non-permeable suit; beryllium handling is included.
  • Ability to work safely in demanding shop-floor, outdoor, noisy, hot or cold, elevated, and confined-space environments and lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Experience in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, chemical, power plant, military, or similar operations.
  • Experience with 24/7 plant or large-scale testing operations.
  • Forklift and boom lift certification, or the ability to obtain these certifications.
