Sr. SSD Firmware Architect (C/C++)

Location: Santa Clara, California; primarily in-office at the Santa Clara, CA office

Annual base salary: $217,000–$359,000 USD. The role may also include incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Define firmware architecture, subsystem design, modularization, and system integration for next-generation DirectFlash SSD modules.
• Bring up new SSD controller SoCs with controller vendors and hardware teams, enabling PCIe, NAND interfaces, power-loss protection, and telemetry.
• Develop firmware components supporting NVMe and OCP SSD specifications.
• Debug cross-layer issues involving firmware, controller hardware, NAND media, and host systems.
• Improve SSD data-path performance and latency through firmware design and analysis.
• Review designs, mentor engineers, and improve development tools, testing, and automation.

Requirements

• Extensive SSD firmware development experience for enterprise or hyperscale systems.
• Strong knowledge of SSD architecture, controller design, NVMe, and OCP SSD specifications.
• Background in embedded firmware development and hardware/software interaction.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with Python or other scripting languages for testing and automation.
• Hands-on experience with storage controller SoCs, PCIe, DMA engines, NAND interfaces, and hardware bring-up.
• Experience designing firmware architectures and debugging complex firmware and hardware issues.
