Electrical Construction Estimator

Location: Rochester, NY; primarily office-based with regular field visits to construction and industrial sites.

Salary: $40.00–$60.00 per hour, with potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Analyze bid packages and prepare detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes.
• Perform takeoffs and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and multi-view drawings.
• Conduct site walks and client walkthroughs to validate scope, conditions, constructability, and execution methods.
• Coordinate with construction managers, engineers, electricians, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
• Specify and source electrical materials, manage vendor quotes, and support procurement and delivery planning.
• Support scheduling, labor planning, cost tracking, documentation, estimating standardization, permitting, and compliance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of electrical field construction experience and 3+ years of electrical estimating experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of power distribution, instrumentation, and control wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and multi-view drawings.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, and OSHA standards, including LOTO, arc flash, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Experience with estimating tools and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license, willingness to travel locally for site visits, strong organization, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
