Principal FPGA Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid, based in the Hawthorne, California office

Salary: $203,000–$243,000 per year

What you will do

• Own FPGA RTL development from initial architecture through flight deployment.
• Define FPGA logical architectures, requirements, and hardware/software interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Develop RTL for Microsemi, Xilinx, and other FPGA or SoC devices using SystemVerilog or VHDL.
• Perform simulations, test-bench development, timing analysis, verification, and hardware testing.
• Lead design reviews, maintain requirement traceability, and document FPGA operation and interfaces.
• Develop and participate in unit, automated, and system-level test campaigns, including designs for radiation impacts in space environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of experience in FPGA RTL architecture, development, verification, deployment, and maintenance.
• Strong skills in SystemVerilog or VHDL and at least one scripting language such as TCL, shell, or Python.
• Experience with verification techniques, timing and stability analysis, PCB designs, schematics, and embedded software.
• Proficiency with AXI protocols, including at least the AXI4 family.
• Knowledge of common bus and memory interfaces such as DDR4, SPI, I2C, and UART.
