Senior FPGA Engineer II (Space Systems)

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States. This role is for candidates seeking to work in U.S. offices and is subject to ITAR eligibility requirements.

Base salary: $143,300–$214,850 USD per year, plus potential stock and cash incentives.

What you will do

• Work with the hardware design team to define and refine requirements.
• Design, code, simulate, and test FPGA logic using VHDL and related FPGA technologies.
• Support hardware and software teams during product bring-up, laboratory debugging, and testing.
• Perform synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis.
• Research customer specifications, datasheets, and technical manuals to determine design approaches and feasibility.
• Provide subject-matter expertise for automated test development, design procedures, and production support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent discipline, with 8+ years of experience.
• Professional experience in FPGA firmware design with VHDL.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
• For U.S. office roles, eligibility under ITAR regulations is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or applicable government authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xilinx/AMD Versal architecture and radiation-tolerant FPGA or embedded systems.
• Experience with FPGA- or ASIC-based image processing, RTL IP development, and IP integration.
• Familiarity with C, Python, MATLAB, algorithm translation to HDL, interrupts, and DMA.
• Experience with DDR4, Aurora, high-speed transceivers, AXI Stream, and AXI Memory Mapped interfaces.
• PCB design, schematic capture, and layout using tools such as Altium Designer; active TS/SCI clearance.
