Principal FPGA Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; onsite at hirify.global's Optical Systems sites

What you will do

• Collaborate with the hardware design team on system requirements.
• Design, code, simulate, and test FPGA logic using VHDL.
• Support hardware and software teams during product bring-up and testing.
• Develop automated tests and provide FPGA design subject-matter expertise to customers and production support.
• Research specifications, datasheets, and manuals to determine design approaches and feasibility.
• Perform laboratory debugging, synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent discipline, with 12+ years of experience.
• Professional experience in FPGA firmware design with VHDL.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• For U.S. office work, eligibility under ITAR regulations is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xilinx/AMD Versal architecture and radiation-environment FPGA or embedded-system design, including SEU/SEL mitigation.
• Experience with FPGA- or ASIC-based image-processing algorithms and creating or integrating RTL IP.
• Familiarity with C, Python, MATLAB, interrupts, DMA, AXI interfaces, DDR4, Aurora, and high-speed transceivers.
• Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and layout using tools such as Altium Designer.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
