TL;DR
Sanitation Lead (Food Safety): Leading sanitation operations across a commercial kitchen and food production facility with an accent on food-grade sanitation chemistry, SSOP execution, and regulatory compliance. Focus on supervising sanitation specialists, managing pre-operational inspections and chemical verification, and responding to food safety deviations under HACCP, FSMA, and SQF/GFSI programs.

Location: West Valley City, Utah, United States; Workplace: On-site. The schedule is generally 6:00 am–3:00 pm, with regular overtime and occasional weekends and holidays.

What you will do

  • Lead 5–6 Sanitation Specialists and plan, assign, and approve sanitation work in partnership with the FSQA Manager.
  • Execute Master Sanitation Schedule activities across production equipment, processing lines, facility surfaces, storage areas, and support spaces using wet wash-down, foam, CIP, and COP methods.
  • Prepare, dilute, and verify cleaning and sanitizing chemicals using titration kits and test strips; maintain chemical usage, storage, and SDS records.
  • Lead pre-operational inspections using ATP testing, visual checklists, and environmental monitoring protocols, documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Support allergen changeovers, food safety deviations, internal and regulatory audits, and FDA, USDA, SQF, and third-party inspections.
  • Train sanitation staff on SSOPs, chemical safety, PPE, GMP compliance, equipment operation, and sanitation documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • At least 2 years of sanitation experience and 1 year of leadership experience; exclusive experience in hotel housekeeping, residential cleaning, janitorial services, or general facilities maintenance is not sufficient.
  • Knowledge of food-grade sanitation chemistry, SSOP execution, chemical preparation and dilution, and concentration measurement.
  • Ability to work with high-pressure washdown equipment, foam cannons, COP tanks, and production equipment.
  • Ability to comply with HACCP principles, FSMA Preventive Controls, SQF/GFSI programs, GMP standards, and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments, including refrigerated coolers at approximately 38°F and freezers at approximately 0°F, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
