Location: Berthoud, Colorado, United States. Must be a U.S. Person, including a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Salary: $91,000–$115,000 per year.

What you will do
- Conduct finite element, structural, thermal, dynamic, and coupled thermal-stress analyses of solid rocket motor components.
- Develop and validate analytical models using ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, Thermal Desktop, and similar tools.
- Support design iterations with recommendations on geometry, materials, and thermal protection systems.
- Evaluate test data and correlate analytical models with physical test results.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams on hardware assessments, repairs, design feasibility, and process optimization.
- Prepare technical documentation, participate in design reviews and failure investigations, and support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in structural and thermal analysis of aerospace components.
- Proficiency with finite element analysis and thermal modeling tools.
- Understanding of material properties, thermal expansion, and high-temperature structural behavior.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test data.
- U.S. Person status and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are required.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree or higher with a focus on solid mechanics, fatigue, fracture, or structural dynamics.
- Experience with solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, high-temperature materials, composites, insulation, or ablative thermal protection systems.
- Experience with loads development, fracture analysis, low-cycle fatigue analysis, testing, and data correlation.
- Experience with the ANSYS FEA suite and safety-critical production systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
