Software Engineering Manager (Go)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; primarily in-office work is required.

Annual base salary: $217,000–$326,000 USD, with potential incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Build and lead an engineering team responsible for control-plane software, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Set technical direction for orchestration, lifecycle workflows, service interfaces, platform behavior, operator experience, and operational tooling.
• Guide the architecture and development of scalable Go services with strong correctness, maintainability, debuggability, and operational resilience.
• Translate product requirements and customer needs into management flows, readiness checks, upgrade and rollback behavior, and safe platform operations.
• Strengthen design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and operational ownership.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, systems, hardware, observability, QE, release, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading software teams and developing engineers.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with production systems, infrastructure software, control software, or distributed services.
• Strong technical depth in distributed systems, backend platforms, infrastructure software, or cloud-native architectures.
• Experience designing reliable, recoverable systems with clear operator workflows and safe failure behavior.
• Familiarity with Go or comparable backend and systems technologies.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
