Chemical Engineer (Battery Recycling)

Location: McCarran, Nevada, United States; split work environment between the office and production facility

hirify.global is localizing the battery supply chain through battery recovery, reuse, recycling, and production of battery materials in the United States.

What you will do

• Support operations and maintenance teams in making chemical and metallurgical processes safe, efficient, sustainable, and continuously improving.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional teams developing and implementing new process plants and equipment.
• Design and operate testwork and pilot plants, including process modelling and equipment sizing.
• Develop flowsheets and conduct trade-off evaluations and studies.
• Design, implement, install, commission, and ramp up process plants.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in chemical plant operations, design, and/or commissioning, including large-scale industrial processing.
• Experience solving difficult chemical and metallurgical process problems and improving plant operations.
• Experience with testwork, pilot plant design and operation, process modelling, equipment sizing, trade-off studies, and financial evaluation.
• Ability to work safely in office and production environments, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., maintain punctual attendance, and communicate clearly.
• Self-motivated, hands-on approach with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with HSCSIM, SysCAD, or METSIM.
• Metallurgical processing experience in mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, or electrometallurgy.
• Passion for sustainability and energy transition.
