Field Commissioning Engineer (BESS)

Location: Lancaster, California, United States. The role requires long-term outdoor work and approximately 70% travel to project sites for onsite battery energy storage system commissioning.

What you will do

• Build onsite commissioning plans based on project conditions and supervise execution to meet schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
• Provide installation and commissioning training to EPC partners, local technicians, and contractors.
• Lead system installation checks, energization, parameter setting, testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Allocate onsite work, coordinate employees and contractors, and manage commissioning tools, spare parts, documentation, and reports.
• Maintain customer communication, provide commissioning progress and fault-resolution updates, and manage relationships with vendors and third parties.
• Train, coach, and mentor new commissioning team members while escalating issues to management when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related electrical major.
• More than 2 years of project commissioning experience; solar or battery projects are preferred.
• More than 1 year of experience in the energy sector.
• Problem-solving, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and countermeasure identification skills related to energy storage systems.
• Strong execution, organization, multitasking, customer focus, and written and verbal communication skills.
• English is the working language; proficiency in MS Office and the ability to use specialized debugging software and basic electrical tools are required.
