Senior Optical Manufacturing Test Engineer - Hardware Automation

What you will do

• Own end-to-end manufacturing test development, including equipment selection, tester specifications, bills of materials, test flows, work instructions, and change control.
• Develop, assemble, validate, buy off, and release production testers for photonic components, modules, and systems.
• Design and conduct optical and fiber testing, production calibration, characterization, and qualification activities.
• Analyze yield, cycle time, throughput, scrap, reliability, and quality data to drive continuous improvement.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, tester process control, SPC, GR&R, and correlation studies.
• Collaborate with optical design, hardware, software, IT, quality, process engineering, and contract manufacturing teams during NPI and manufacturing ramp.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related field, plus 7 years of experience in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing or automated test system development.
• Expertise with optical test equipment and protocols, including optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, polarization controllers, and bit-error-rate testers.
• Hands-on experience with yield analysis, manufacturing process improvement, reliability testing, quality control, and quality management systems.
• Experience with SPC, GR&R, tester correlation, report generation, processor communication interfaces, and test automation tools.
• Ability to write or adapt automation scripts in Python, LabVIEW, or Visual Basic; shell scripting is a plus.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills are required, including presentation, training, and mentoring abilities. International travel is required.

• Experience testing 400G, 800G, 1.6T, or similar optical transceiver modules.
• Data querying and statistical analysis skills.
• Expertise in optical failure-analysis processes and tools.
