Senior Field Service Engineer - 2nd Shift (Robotics)

Location: Mountain View, United States; second shift from 2 pm to 10 pm. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary: $85,000–$106,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of prototype robotic systems and complex electromechanical sub-assemblies.
• Diagnose electrical failures across computers, power distribution systems, sensors, embedded data acquisition systems, lithium battery packs, and embedded processors.
• Build and debug electrical test setups, labs, and integrated prototype robots.
• Create repair runbooks and procedures, identify detailed electrical issues, and recommend corrective actions to design engineers.
• Iterate prototype designs toward reproducible assemblies with strong quality control.
• Lead technical repair projects, mentor team members, coordinate schedules, and improve operational processes.

Requirements

• Experience with maintenance and repair workflows and repair ticketing or issue management tools such as JIRA.
• Hands-on experience building and debugging electromechanical test setups.
• Experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, and thermal probes.
• Experience with CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C communication interfaces.
• Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, communicate test results clearly, and manage deadlines.
• Strong collaboration, mentoring, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Python and command-line operations in a UNIX-like operating system.
• Experience with robots, robotic systems, position encoders, force sensors, electric actuators, or motors.
• PCB schematic and layout software experience, such as Altium.
• PCB rework and cable assembly experience, particularly with technically difficult rework.
