Senior Engineer, Facilities & Utilities

Location: Austin, TX; based at the Burnet, TX manufacturing facility

Salary: $91,000–$120,000 per year, plus annual bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Oversee factory utility systems, including compressed air, nitrogen, argon, DIW, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and exhaust.
• Lead troubleshooting, monitor trend data, conduct SPC reviews, and identify improvements to utility-system reliability and performance.
• Lead medium-sized capital projects that expand factory capacity and manage facility modifications through the management-of-change process.
• Conduct equipment, process, behavioral, and utility-system safety reviews, including input to HAZOP reviews.
• Analyze preventive and corrective maintenance trends to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Develop facility plans, conceptual designs, layouts, technical documentation, P&IDs, process-flow diagrams, recipes, and work instructions while coordinating with contractors and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a similar field.
• 4+ years of experience in operations, utilities, project execution, and continuous improvement for equipment supporting chemical purification or packaging.
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, control logic diagrams, instrumentation selection, and valve and line sizing.
• Experience with FMEA, PHA, or other risk-assessment tools, as well as scoping and executing small- to moderate-scale capital projects.
• Ability to present technical data, collaborate across functions, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and wear required PPE.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer certification.
• Experience with SPC, ISO quality standards, management of change, chemical compatibility studies, and hazardous-material handling.
• Experience with boiler, tank, and utility-system process design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
